Brief history of parallax designs

The parallax technique was first used in the 1940’s to create an illusion of depth within 2D video games. Later on, it grew in popularity in the 1980’s – with the rise of arcade games. Today the parallax effect is seen as a part of the scrolling feature of a web page – where the background image would move slower than the foreground images. This trend is relatively new in web design – which makes it exciting and fun.
