The Parallax technique was first used in the 1940’s to create an illusion of depth within 2D video games. Later on it grew in popularity in the 1980’s – with the rise of arcade games. Today the Parallax effect is seen as a part of the scrolling feature of a web page – where the background image would move slower than the foreground images. This trend is relatively new in web design – which makes it exciting and fun.
